Assignment 2

I use to think my mother was completely oblivious to the Internet and all the things it was capable off....but man am I behind on all the new trends on the web. I knew of a few of the sites, but didn't understand until now that they were considered to be apart of web 2.o. I also took a computer class on the Internet in high school, and things have completely transformed and grown since then. I have used social networking sites like facebook, youtube, and flicker. Web 2.o is the direction in which the world wide web technology and web design is expanding and growing. "Web 2.0 technology encourages lightweight business models enabled by syndication of content and of service and by ease of picking-up by early adopters" wikipedia. The new technology encourages social networks that connects people and businesses. Allows people to share information and collaborate at home, and could allow more people to work out of their homes. I like the creativity part of web 2.0 because it allows me to decorate my own web space, instead of having to conform to the creators design. Web 2.0 technology is server-software, content-syndication, mesaging-prtocols, standards-oriented browsers with plugins and extensions, and various client-applications. Web 2.0 goes further than web 1.0 by storing information, creation, and expanding capabilities. I think web 2.0 does represent a radical departure from the ways in which we interact with each other and information online. Web 2.0 makes it seem like you don't even have to leave your computer to connect to all different kinds of people all over the world. It allows us to communicate The seven examples to social media showed me websites I've never explored til tonight. There are so many different ways and forms people communicate through on the Internet. Students today need to understand 2.0 to keep up with all the ways in which we can communicate with each other. For example my math teacher has a online chat room where we can ask her questions at a certain time of night. She has limited office hours and 4 children, so it allows her to be devoted to her job and at the same time her family. In the machine is using us I like how they say we create and use the technology, not the computer. For something to be effective we need to know how to use it. Many of these new social medias are very self explanatory. I remember when i had to create a website a few years ago it was really hard to put all the right codes, but now you can create a site by logging into a site, and then you build and create it to ones own liking. There are so many new ways we can interact, and i assume they will keep growing and expanding ever year.
